OUR STORY

It takes a village of parents, stakeholders and investors to prepare our children for global leadership

We are part of that village

Diaspora Global Foundation is a non-profit 501(c) (3) certified charitable educational organization.  Our focus and mission is to serve the educational needs of children of color that are underserved within our current educational system .  This desire was born out of the concern that although we have personally guided, supported and prepared our children for market participation, leadership and innovation, there remains countless other children that have not received the level of support and guidance that is needed to move forward successfully in a competitive and expanding global marketplace and especially in the area of STEM, (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).

In the spring of 2020, the covid 19 pandemic, caused a global shutdown of all public and private educational instructions in all grade levels.  Many parents were unprepared for the shifting of the core responsibility of education back to the home. There was massive chaos when the entire global educational community was forced to adapt to the "new learning" normal.  Without formal training or even regular practice, many families were left in crisis not fully understanding or willing to accept their new role as educators, coach and mentors in the lives of their children.

To us this was a painful reminder of how we have allowed our public educational system to manage our children's educational journey without us.  In response to this crisis and the need for educational guidance, we created a series of educational podcast to provide information and to support parents though this transitional period. We invited parents, stakeholders, and market experts to participate in the conversations.

The response to our podcast series was very positive.  However, we felt the need to do more and serve our communities and our children better.  We started planning and strategizing.  We focused on creating an organization that can give our children and their families more information, training and resources.

The application process was completed.  In October, 2020, Diaspora Global Foundation was founded.

The work of the organization is to create educational programs and initiatives that will help close the educational gap in STEM, reading comprehension and financial literacy for our children and their parents, and to prepare our children for global market participation and leadership.  Although our educational focus is STEM, the resources and tools we give them can be applied in any area of life, work or study.

Our initiatives

We invite you to join us by supporting, partnering and investing with us in the education of our future global leaders.  Our investment in their education will impact their lives and our collective social and economic future.

“Education is the great engine of  personal development. It is through education that  the daughter of a peasant can become a doctor, that the son of a mine worker can become the head of the mine, that a child of farm workers can become the president

of a great nation. It is what we make out of what we have, not what we are given, that separates one person from another.”
