Young Nigerian Architect Builds "The Lantern House"

Africa continues to elevate the world of art and design.

Award winning Nigerian Architect Tosin Oshinowo is being celebrated for her

exceptional creativity in design.

Tosin is a young contemporary Architects that created the beautiful, modern, sleek, and sustainable "lantern house" in the very upscale and exclusive Banana Island area, in Lagos Nigeria. Steep in creativity and versatality, Tosin has designed one of the largest malls in Lagos, Nigeria, beach houses on the city’s coast and homes for internally displaced people in the north of the country.

In addition to her design practice, cmDesign Atelier (cmDA), Tosin runs a bespoke furniture design company. She is the first African woman to curate the Sharjah Architecture Triennial, happening in the United Arab Emirates from November 2023 to March 2024.

Oshinowo, says the Lantern House project, a five-bedroom, seven-bathroom, three-story sustainable home, powered entirely by solar energy, was both exciting and a “slow labor of love.”
